ACDI/VOCA - Honduras

illuminAid conducted a four-day Video Education Workshop in Marcala, Honduras for ACDI/VOCA and their partners from February 7-10, 2023. The participants consisted of staff from ACDI/VOCA and other partner organizations, including the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) within its Transforming Market Systems Activity (TMS). The workshop attendees learned the skills necessary for video creation, editing, and dissemination techniques and strategies. We provided them with all the necessary tools, including cameras, projectors, and solar kits. Of the 2 videos created during the workshop, one focused on the production of effective compost, and the other on the creation and utilization of fertilizer.

In collaboration with USAID, illuminAid partnered with ACDI/VOCA in Honduras to train local organizations on video production for community-led farming education. illuminAid's model works to complement farmers who have already gained education in the field but require access to continued knowledge. Our collaborative model aims to include farmers who are often overlooked by group-based farmer-field schools, particularly those who are considered "marginal" or excluded from mainstream education and training opportunities.

ACDI/VOCA is partnering with local organizations to produce a series of 10 agriculture-related videos that will be shared with local farming communities as an outcome of illuminAid's training. These informative videos will cover various topics such as coffee farming, compost, and fertilizer creation, improving the competitiveness of the coffee sector, soil management, coffee wet milling and more.

illuminAid will collaborate closely with ACDI/VOCA to oversee the video creation process and evaluate the impact of these resources on farming communities in need of ongoing support and education. By leveraging the power of technology and strategic partnerships, we aim to enhance access to crucial knowledge and empower farmers with the tools they need to thrive.
