CRS - Togo
illuminAid conducted a four-day Video Education Workshop in Kara, Togo for CRS and their partners from March 8-11, 2022. The participants consisted of staff from CRS and other partner organizations, including: 3ASC, ADESCO, DRE Kara, and DRE Savanes. The workshop attendees learned the skills necessary for video creation, editing, and dissemination techniques and strategies. We provided them with all the necessary tools, including camera, projectors, and solar kits. Of the 2 videos created during the workshop, one was a teacher training video on running an orderly classroom and the other focused on techniques for hand washing in school.
As a part of the CRS STARS project implementation, CRS’ goal is to implement a robust and integrated SBC strategy that will build on existing efforts from the Ministry of Health (MoH) while increasing community understanding of the links between education, child well-being, health, nutrition and hygiene. Activities will target school children and community members. At school level, CRS plans to develop and disseminate at least 12 locally produced videos for school-age children on key themes, such as handwashing, a balanced diet, and use of mosquito bed nets. Videos will be shown at all intervention schools at least quarterly, targeting all classes.
illuminAid helped workshop participants understand how video can be an influential tool to circulate awareness and set in motion the knowledge necessary for a higher quality of life. Throughout the workshop, the illuminAid staff gained a greater appreciation of the unique geographical, infrastructural and economical challenges that CRS and their partners face in their goal to invoke permanent behavior change regarding children’s health, education and safety.
