By November 2015, Liberia had over 10,000 confirmed cases of Ebola. Due to the unprecedented number of victims, aid organizations and volunteers were overwhelmed and unable to provide the necessary care and education to all communities. OMPT helped to ensure that the communities were able to sustain the fight against Ebola by providing technology and training to organizations with the goal of mobilizing local community members and fostering the development of improved hygienic behaviors in at-risk populations.
OMPT and the U.S. Embassy partnered in December of 2015 to address the needs of Ebola victims in Liberia. Executive Director Matt York and Program Manager Claire Pelley worked with four Local Video Trainers to administer a workshop for 37 individuals from 31 organizations. OMPT also delivered camera and projector equipment. The participants were trained in video production so that they would be able to further spread the message and sensitize and engage communities across Liberia in the fight against Ebola.
