Concern Universal – Guinea

The Ebola outbreak of 2014 continued well into 2015 when OMPT, in partnership with the CDC and State Department, brought it’s training and technology to combat the disease. The West African nation of Guinea was declared Ebola free and has remained so largely due to prevention efforts and increased emphasis on sanitation and hygiene. By the end of that year, they had confirmed over 2500 Ebola casualties.

In January of 2016, OMPT returned to Guinea to partner with Concern Universal to facilitate a workshop in Forécariah, Guinea. Program Manager Claire Pelley administered the training with the help of Local Video Trainers. There were 27 participants who received training and equipment, including camera and projector kits. Concern Universal’s staff learned basic video-making techniques culminating in the production of their own videos. The video content stressed the necessity of remaining vigilant against Ebola, modeled handwashing and sanitation techniques and addressed the stigmatization of Ebola victims.
