Welcome to a new series! Going forward, we’ll be checking in with our founder and Executive Director Matt York once a quarter to hear what’s on his mind, what inspires him, and what’s on his reading list.

Earlier this year, one of our previous partners, CARE Malawi held some very powerful screening sessions about infant nutrition in the rural areas of the Salima District. We spoke with Monitoring & Evaluation Coordinator Noriah Katungwe to understand more about her experience using video to bring their nutrition curriculum to life!

Today is the International Literacy Day! Learning to read and write is a fundamental human right. Sadly, over 40 percent of the human population is illiterate--but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t have access to the same education available to the rest of the world.

When OMPT goes out to complete a project, we only get the chance to work with members of the local community for a few days, but what happens after we leave? The impact of video education and ICT4D (information and communication technologies for development) remains positive and impactful far past the end of our workshop. We love hearing back from partners that we have worked with in the past who are still implementing technology to educate and promote positive behavior change. 

What are we talking about when we use all of these abbreviations? One Mobile Projector Per Trainer (OMPT) is a nonprofit non-government organization (NGO) that works with other International Organizations (IOs) and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) on projects that promote information and communication technologies for development (ICT4D).

Back in 2017 OMPT partnered with The Foundation For Tomorrow in Tanzania to deliver a teacher training project . One of the participating members from The Foundation For Tomorrow, Noah Kayanda, was recently interviewed about the impact of the workshop. Read the full interview here!
