Pathfinder - Mozambique
illuminAid led a 4-day workshop with our partner, Pathfinder: Mozambique, from October 5th to October 8th, 2021. We trained our partner on video creation, editing, and dissemination techniques and strategies to more effectively promote the health and safety of girls and young women in Mozambique. We provided them with all the necessary tools, including camera, projectors, and solar kits. The videos created during the workshop highlighted best practices and benefits of family planning and delaying childbearing. Notably, workshop participants cast locals as the on-camera talent. Using community members with local dialects is an important part of creating a video that will evoke lasting behavior change.
Since 1957, Pathfinder International (a global health organization with locally led, community-driven programs) has been working in the community assisting, educating, and supporting women to make their own reproductive health decisions. They advance contraceptive services, comprehensive abortion care, and young people’s sexual and reproductive rights in communities around the world.
illuminAid helped workshop participants understand how video can be an influential tool to circulate awareness and set in motion the knowledge necessary for a higher quality of life. Throughout the workshop, illuminAid learned about the treatment of young women and girls in Mozambique and the hardships they face on a daily basis. With the help of our partner, girls and young women will be armed with useful information delivered to improve the quality of their lives.
