Integrating Low-Cost Video into Development Projects

This toolkit for practitioners was developed by FHI 360 to empower development professionals to integrate low-cost video as an information and communication technology (ICT) to scale impact. illuminAid (formerly OMPT) is featured in the toolkit as a capacity development partner.

Toolkit Purpose

"This toolkit is designed to help projects, organizations, and individuals who want to use low-cost video in their development projects. It is important to stress that the toolkit does not assume that video is the most appropriate solution for capturing and disseminating all types of information. Rather, given its growing accessibility due to the increasing availability of low-cost digital video cameras, video-enabled mobile phones, and editing software, this toolkit aims to enable readers to develop a more systematic approach to using low-cost video as one medium through which they share and capture information.” (p.8)

Why Video for Behavior Change Communication and Learning?

illuminAid employs the cognitive theory of multimedia learning to underscore the importance of video to disseminate educational messages, especially in marginalized communities with language diversity or low literacy rates.
